I’m going to make this one quick and painless. Because I was right and I was wrong – at least for the time being.
For the past few weeks, I’ve said the Portland Trail Blazers were not going to make a move. Well they did by shipping out Ike Diogu. I also said the Blazers would wait until the summer to make major moves. And they will, especially now with the team receiving $3 million in a trade exception along with Michael Ruffin (formerly of the Washington Wizards, above).
Ruffin has been injured. He hasn’t played this season with the Chicago Bulls. And who knows if he will even report – or even yet – is waived by Portland.
With the trade deadline set for tomorrow afternoon, I’m sure to have another post or two.
Stay tuned.

Not making any trades sets us up for the off season. Well see what we have to work on then. If we waive Ruffin, do we still get the trade exception??? And another note since Frye is a restricted FA this summer, i bet Portland will make a decision with him quick since his restrictedness eats alot of room until we make one. Maybe a sign and trade w/ Frye included? Who knows. I’m still happy about this season so far and hopefully we can make a good impression in the playoffs.
there was still plenty of talk last night around the rose garden that portland was in the process of making a “major move”…..
just had a hard time buying into that.
and i’ve said for months now, i don’t imagine frye returning to portland after this season. wouldn’t be shocked if the run he received against memphis was a chance to showcase him before the deadline.
no takers.
but now with greg out, and ruffin’s arrival still uncertain, frye should get some more mintues.
